EXPRESSIVE ARTS AND DESIGN
Art & Design
In line with our text-based approach, our Art & Design lessons aim to always link to and enrich our class topics. Children are taught Art and Design through a variety of practical lessons where they explore, develop and refine their artistic skills, knowledge and understanding. Each year, children build on prior learning and skills, as documented in the link below:

Music
Music is an important element of school life at Essendon Primary School. In line with the National Curriculum, we aim to provide our children with experiences in which they can develop a love of music as well as their talent as musicians. In doing this, we strive to expose children to a range of broad musical styles, which includes hosting visiting musicians to engage and inspire. These opportunities help to increase our children's self-confidence, creativity and sense of musical enjoyment.
Across the school, we use the music platform ‘Charanga’. As a subsidizesed scheme of learning from Hertfordshire , Charanga’s high-quality musical lessons focus on world music and provide the opportunity to play a variety of different genres.
